Welcome, your health and well being comes first!

Your First Visit

What Should You Expect on Your First Visit with Us?

At Prough Chiropractic our examinations procedures are geared toward the detection and correction of the "Vertebral Subluxation" (click on this link for more information on subluxations). The procedures, including traditional orthopedic and neurologic procedures, are therefore specifically selected for your spine and nervous system health. There are a couple of things that you should expect when you have your first visit at our clinic.

Our Examination consists of a thorough painless and non-embarrassing spinal and nervous system and orthopedic exam, which consisting of several components including specific Chiropractic tests such as static palpation, motion palpation, posture analysis, and leg length tests. Palpation essentially is checking your spine by hand. With this exam the doctor can feel areas of your spine and look for spinal position, curvatures and muscle tone that may be involved with subluxation problems. Motion palpation involves evaluating the movement of the individual motion segments of your spine looking for areas with less than optimal movement. Posture analysis demonstrates alignment issues relative to gravity and leg length evaluation demonstrates nerve system tension.

Spinal X-rays are a necessary part of your evaluation that gives us important information such as the position of the spinal bones, the quality of the spine as well as whether it is safe to adjust it. X-rays as well can tell us a relative length of time that the subluxations may have been present in your spine, and whether there may be permanent damage. There are a few reasons why we would not take x-rays such as pregnancy, children on a case by case basis, or recent usable spinal x-rays. Aside from these situations, x-rays are a necessary part of the examination process when looking for vertebral subluxations and giving you a prognosis as to how well you may improve. With this important information we can make a more accurate determination of the type of adjustments your spine needs as well as the initial frequency of your care.

You will be scheduled for a Report of Findings within a few days of your initial visit. This visit is your most important visit and may take a little longer than a regular visit. It is at your Report of Findings that we will give you a care plan and go over any special instructions you will need to obtain the best and fastest possible results.
